In 2010 The National conseguieron relieve their fans to release an album - "High Violet" - that fell short of what was heard in "Boxer" and that majestic "Alligator" usually still play occasionally. After two long years touring all over the world, and even playing as a Spanish festival Primavera Sound, Matt Berninger band returns to step forward showing two new songs that sounded in the concert that made the Cincinnati last weekend at the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in the UK.
'Prime', with electric sobs echoing in the background, we liked. However, we believe that 'Lola' is the star of this post. With a rocky Berninger, who rounded acoustic vocal chords Bryce Dessner. And a sublime Aaron, who brings the chilli to sound delusional theme with ten seconds of sharp taps guitarists.

Ben Bridwell (Band of Horses): "I do not know if it ever will love playing in stadiums"
If ye shall know that followers of Binaural Band Of Horses are one of our favorite bands. The discovered immediately after the release of "Everything All The Time" and since then we have continued year after year, release after release. This has been what we have lived with them this past month we decided to travel to Milan to enjoy the first concert that the band was going to perform in Europe because of the tour to promote "Mirage Rock", his last studio album. We who are so damn awhile, moved date to see if we could get some kind of interview and fortunately finished playing the flute. We were going to have 15 minutes to interview one of the members of the group.
What we did not know then is that the time would be even better than expected: the interviewee would be Ben Bridwell and we would share one long and endearing hour talking with him. I can only remember that time with great affection, there are few, very few musicians who are so nice, modest and sensitive as this singer. As we talked about "Mirage Rock", his collaborations with Biffy Clyro or his current European tour, I saw up close the great heart that this man has inside. And fortunately also a music extrapolated over recent years has won hundreds of thousands of hearts around the world.
Without further ado here are a summary of the long talks we had on Sunday at 18:00 in the dressing room of the Alcatraz in Milan. If you are fans of BOH's you can not miss!
Let's start talking about what happened in the Global Citizen Festival. It must be amazing to be there in the middle with the likes of Neil Young or Foo Fighters!
It was crazy playing with Neil Young & Crazy Horse. In fact he had never seen them live and how good I am a fan of them, was thrilled by the experience. It was also great to be there with good friends such as the Foo Fighters. Whenever there is an opportunity for them teloneamos without hesitation. The only problem is that that day coincided with a football game very important. I do not know if I'm more passionate about football or music, and not lying about this. I remember watching the game with headphones on, through my PC. They went into the dressing room and was told "you have to go out and play now." I went out, did the bolus more beast than we did (had 60,000 spectators witnessing this event!) And I went backstage to go running back the game. I missed performances by The Black Keys and the Foo Fighters, but I could get close to when Neil came on stage.
And that's when you came out to sing 'Rockin' In The Free World 'with your idol ...
Yes! We left in the final jam play that song with him and his band. It was strange because moments like the way you want to live to spectator, and not put in there. I did not want the situation to fuck like a fan. But they asked if we could do it. I thought about running away from the situation to live well from outside but after all knew that if he refused that opportunity I would regret it sooner or later. Not every day you can sing with one of your idols ...
It must have been a moment of most intense. As one who lived to sing "Hunger Strike" with Pearl Jam at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York. You seemed very excited at the time of such action.
Ugh, I tried not to mourn in every way possible! I walk chills just thinking about that moment. It was unbelievable. That same day I made the proposal. I came to Madison Square Garden and his tour manager asked me, "do you know 'Hunger Strike' Temple Of The Dog?. I said yes and he replied: "Yeah? Well do soundcheck in 30 minutes. " He asked if I wanted to play and I said yes. "Shit," I said. Remember to get off the subject, get into the sink and start to sing the song over and over again so that the thing does not come out so shameful in the sound. And I think it went wrong the issue because they said "ok, we will play tonight." I got nervous. Madison Square Garden is a huge place and the experience was so extraordinary that, after singing in 'Hunger Strike', I could not concentrate for my own concert backstage. The situation struck me very much, especially to feel that love from their fanbase. For Pearl Jam fans are very loyal. and would not be easy to be victorious with something that originally sang Chris Cornell. It was awesome.
Part of your life you were staying in Seattle. Did you live near the grunge in the '90s?
Not much, in fact landed in the city right after the whole boom of the late eighties, early nineties. For when I was living there Seattle certain identity crisis. In mainstream terms, of course since grunge was gone and coming into being through the area several indie bands. I was more set in a scene that went great bands like Modest Mouse and Built To Spill. In fact I came to Seattle just before fichase by Epic Modest Mouse, and it had this generational shift in the indie took over. And I loved that because that style of music is definitely mine.
By now you should know Sera Cahoone - former partner in Carissa's Weird Bridwell and drummer who contributed to the first album of Band Of Horses. Do you still keep in touch with her?
Totally! We do this via email. I recently exchanged our latest albums. Since we fail to collaborate occasionally write for ourselves and aware of everything that happens in our lives. It is a great person, and also has a huge talent. You can play any instrument! And I love knowing that now pulls with a personal project that satisfies you.
Sera was one of the first to integrate the puzzle pieces forming Band of Horses. In your first two albums alternated training its members, up to a fixed line-up for the launch of "Infinite Arms". Was this family atmosphere that you have now you wanted from the beginning?
Yes, though there are differences. At the beginning of BOH looking for someone nice who, without being a great musician, might conform to what he sought. As time passed, the increased media exposure, and thus also the feeling of responsibility that existed in the unit that made up the group. Some people did not fit with this. Others that fit ended up preferring other jurisdictions due to issues related to personality, or diverse musical interests. It's been all kinds of situations Band Of Horses, until today that Ryan, Bill and the rest are all one.
What compositionally speaking what roles each of you have the time to write a song? Do you have a way of working sets in this regard?
When composing a theme usually start from a small instrumental section sent between Tyler, Ryan or myself. Sometimes Tyler can place some type of vowel sound above the layer, or even Bill. The idea is to move a piece waiting to answer another member by sending a message like "this is cool". We seek at all times to accept such a piece evolves. No rules, can be born anyway.
It is quite clear that among you there is a special chemistry. This is both direct and even in some of the videos that you go up to the network. Do you plan to share center stage facing camera for video coming face as you did with the 'Knock Knock'? Did you get anything done 'Feud' as the last single ...
I had completely forgotten that 'Feud' was here as easy! I do not know, we usually only on display in one video per album. It is very painful to see us on the small screen.
Do not like to act?
The truth is no. I believe I can make a career as an actor from my performances on screen. For the next production'd better put me aside and cede the spotlight to an artistic production, to flee from the idea of showing the group members.
What is your music, that's for sure. And "Mirage Rock" is another good album which records your last good sonic personality. Closely analyzing've felt some degree of curiosity about a topic: 'Shut-In Tourist'. Are there many conceptual crumb behind this piece, no?
Yes! Interestingly I wrote this song on a day off I had in Barcelona or Madrid, now can not remember. Rather than go out and do some sightseeing, I am of those who stay in your room and take advantage of their free time to write songs. 'Shut-In Tourist' is exactly on the idea of forcing yourself to be between four walls while your friends are out there exploring the terrain. I have a slight agoraphobia that always brings me to act like that. Over the years I think more and more I fear the outside world, I should also affect the pressure of recording a new album and stuff. But hey I can not complain, in this way I get to have more free time to spend with my family. So when I'm with them need not digress for now to focus on composing.
You should feel proud to have composed many issues. Especially for 'The Funeral', clearly the most pervasive and media composition you've made so far. Do you ever create something as big as that seen in single?
Ugh! I doubt we can get a song that is so special to us like that. Even brand new issue of this magnitude is something very difficult to achieve. The effect was achieved at the time scary. Went on to appear in films, television series, commercials ... and born of the unexpected. I honestly did not think 'The Funeral' was to be what it is. This is how it should be. Never try to recreate something that I did, or something to build on past to do something now.
It became clear to us the last two albums, or collaborations you've been working. You recently recorded alongside Biffy Clyro, right?
Right! I've been very fortunate that I would raise that chance. We did two shows together to them and Foo Fighters. We fell instantly in his music are very good! Unfortunately we could not go out a lot together but we kept in touch. Some time later I got the chance to sing on a couple of his latest tracks. I recorded the material that I was asked to engraven. Mail it and crossed my fingers that were to be edited. I hope that in the end is about! I have not heard the final mixes, so you still do not know if you finally see the light. I hope you have luck.
Occasionally collaborations go well. If I have time I launch it. No matter if you are from other musical styles, I love to try everything! The important thing is to be surrendered by his side, and we agree on some point artistically. Here we have what we did versionando to Cee Lo Green, or did the vocal contribution in the song 'Starting Over' by Macklemore, a rapper who is becoming quite famous in the Seattle area. In fact his album reached No. 2 on the Billboard chart.
With Band Of Horses have lived an amazing time. In time, as you talk with your family about them, what do you think will be those who remember with fondness?
Buff! There are many, and for very different reasons. One I remember most is the vivid Roskilde Festival in 2007. We played in a tent and people turned to us. He knew all the songs!. Apart from this it is impossible to forget the moment with Pearl Jam at Madison Square Garden, or the point at which we agree with My Morning Jacket live ... They are one of my favorite bands! So many memories that will remain are the fans. Recently we canceled a U.S. tour (Railroad Revival Tour) we had scheduled. Self we put squarely to configure in order to reach the same tour cities on the same days that were scheduled concerts. No matter the shit fall on us, if we do our best for our fans. Because they are like an army and we want a lot. This is the best thing we could have come as a set.
Now you are just starting a small European tour. And all concert dates there is one that shines: they will be playing for the first time in a room as big as London's Hammersmith Apollo.
Yes! There is a huge pile of artists who have recorded live albums in that room. In fact I spoke with Glyn Johns (the producer of "Mirage Rock") so that we record the sound issues in this concert. We finally decided not to for the pressure this could mean for us. The experience might be too beast. We touched on a stack of rooms as Brixton in London, Shepherd's Bush, Scala or Roundhouse. But this will be colossal.
Are you aware that the stadiums Hammersmith Apollo is only a step, right?
Ya! And the truth is I do not know if I want to reach that status. We have never been overly ambitious people. Naively enjoyed any rotation that we are on the road, and nothing more. Well what I can carry on playing arenas when we're opening for someone, but lead a concert ... not ever want to know if something like that for us. It should be easy to get everyone who is in there as if he were sitting in the front row. I know I'm not ready to play in arenas, but do not know if I'll want to never get to do.
But you are one step to achieve this!
And why do albums like "Mirage Rock". To do this well (puts his hand on a gun and sticks a shot in the foot fictitious). We designed it this way! (Laughs)
(Laughs) I understand! And as a final and necessary question, when did we see you again for our country?
I have an overwhelming desire to go to Spain, Portugal ... to go south! To at least get into good temperature. I hope we play at some festival or something for the summer. For now all we have is an early scheduled European tour to be held by June, so I do not know if they will have festivals then. When is the Primavera Sound?
Hopefully this last question has more meaning than appears at first sight ...

Flesh in the video for 'Do not Tell' (Smoke & Jackal)
On October 16 it will release the first EP - "EP1" - of this unusual collaboration conducted between bassist Jared Followill (Kings Of Leon) and Nick Brown (Mona). After enjoying the audio of the first single 'Do not Tell', the network now reaches the video for the new single from Smoke & Jackal in which intermingle naked nocturnal and pipes (controlled) fireworks somewhat reminiscent to those seen in the video for 'Back Down South' in KOL.
I can not help admitting that addiction has caused in me the first single from Smoke & Jackal. 'Do not Tell' is one of those songs that engage a lot, and much of that feeling comes from the redundant (but catchy) rhythm that comes from the bass line of Jared Followill. Yes, we recommend you to take a look at the morbid content of the song. It Jared and Nick talk about oral sex, torrid affaires in roadside motels and parents voyeurs. The whole point of you can check here:
She’s lying through her teeth
I bet he’s proud of his daughter
The way she’s looking at me
Here we go
She’s down on her knees
She gonna throw away her father
Now she’s lying beneath
Here we go
She said “I only came to give some head”
She making messes in my bed
We’re going down in the motel no tell
I guess she really came to give some head
Now the sheets are red
We’re going down in the motel
She can barely get it out
Saying “I’ve never done this,
Can we slow down?”
There she goes
I’ll take the blame
‘Cause I’ve never done this
With someone so young
There she goes
She said “I only came to give some head”
She making messes in my bed
We’re going down in the motel no tell
I guess she really came to give some head
Now the sheets are red
We’re going down in the motel no tell
She’s lying through her teeth
I bet he’s proud of his daughter

The single (and face B) that led to joining Deep Swim RCA
Thousands and thousands are groups that publish LP after LP, without ever joining a major label. However there are few (very few!) Times that we are surprised by how events unfold. One of the last cases that left us speechless is to have lived Swim Deep, a joint British indie pop with just a single, and a B-side, has joined the RCA powerful, company that has in its rooster artists with size bands Foo Fighters, the Strokes, Kings of Leon and Kasabian.
'King City' is the track that these carefree guilty boys Birmingham have come to have that coveted opportunity. And the reality is that the architect of his signing it must have been clear to hear that authentic "blending" formed between a low close to Kings Of Leon and omnipresent dance beat that reminds a lot (maybe too much) to MGMT's "Oracular Spectacular ". The similarities between Deep Swim and their referents are obvious, and in that sense the B side 'Beach Justice' is not far behind, there is a lot of surf pop of Best Coast behind this piece.
After rotating for a few months with Pond, the sky has opened these guys picturesque city of West Midlands. Now I have to see if Austin, Higgy, Zachary and Cavan are able to draw the attention of the British public, other hits that exceed styling seen on the two demos from Soundcloud (ye can hear below) and come to live up to a 'King City' that keeps ringing in our portable players. With rates as blandishment animated like this, few will be those who will resist the onslaught attractive sound of these wolves dressed lambs.
