In early 2010 I had a healthy obsession with Band Of Horses led me to approach the town of Cambridge (United Kingdom) to see how it sounded live that "Infinite Arms" that such good results garnered from critics and audience. Just hours before the concert I was in front of a local Tesco bolus close to when, unexpectedly, through the door of the supermarket members of the band of horses. Creighton and Ryan were missing but there was Ben, Tyler, Bill and a fourth person who, despite being unknown to many, is a key figure in Band Of Horses. This mysterious rubiales by the name of Christopher Wilson is an art director / photographer / filmmaker who has been working "full time" with Band of Horses for about two years.
I also remember Christopher spotted at a concert in the hall gave BOH Apollo in February 2011. That was on the table sound, still and immutable, watching moving organically those snapshots that even today serve as a visual background of all concert hall Band Of Horses. And that is just the tip of the iceberg, Christopher has been behind the majority of promotional materials that have been published in Seattle these past 700 days.
Photography is the largest of the passions of Chris and it is not surprising to discover through their website that this nice guy has been following, step by step, all the pins of all the tours that the band has performed in Bridwell recently. Here we see from photos in Rio de Janeiro to as many in other parts of South America, Europe and USA. Special mention Christopher portraits captured in special moments as the action of Ben Bridwell with Pearl Jam or the brief conversation that former Carissa's Weird singer had with Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen.
Every time I see one of those photos I suspect the reason that they chose to Subpop protected old Chris as its art director. The affable Rubiales has an innate tendency to capture natural landscapes, and that is exactly what has characterized the group's productions of indie rock. Perhaps at the beginning of his career this constant was not as highlighted, but now all the "feeling" that surrounds the whole focus of it. The clearest evidence is found in both album covers and in music that, as expected, have been produced by Chris Wilson. Here you have three examples of four videos posted by BOH who once commented on the web. Pay special attention to the 'Compliments' in which, with various "fades" seamlessly intertwines the form of trees and lush mountains and dense forests.
Besides his work with Band Of Horses, Christopher has several galleries on your site that openly show his love for landscapes with life. These are from portraits of exotic animals to get some snapshots that give life itself to places that a priori claim to be grim and soulless.
Thanks to the work of Christopher Wilson Band of Horses have managed to further define the product of their music on a millimeter and accurate. Now one can only hope that in the face of an upcoming album of the famous band indie rock / alternative country to re-sign their creative fellow sufferer. The world, and ourselves, we would be widely appreciated.
